A case for using the Internet
Are we to fear or not? A lot of people express fear of the hackers,especially when they take people's biographies, profiles and pictures and use them for some potentially harmful purposes via the Internet. However, with the way the Internet continues to remain one of the most convenient forms of media especially things like emails, blogs, twitter, facebook, skype and so on,it becomes extremely difficult to entirely do without them. Moreover, on several occasions some people have received e-mails purporting to be from people they know and all their details included. And sometimes the named person may be asking for money or even pretending to want to give some money or help to the mail recipient. Now to make matters worse, some companies may advertize for job openings and when people send them their resumes or cvs including some other confidential information, some may go ahead and post some of this information on some public domains making it very easy for such people to get the details they look for.(in fact some people I know have fallen victim to this).
With all this happening many people are living both in fear and dilemmas, they fear for their images but because of need, most of them continue to use the internet. Now from the perspective of leadership and fear, what would be the best message or way to go in such a context? With some people falling victim and others progressing in life because of the internet,where is fear in all this? Could we say sometimes people learn to domesticate their fears for survival purposes? Supposing that fear is domesticated that way, does it retain its name fear or else it dies a natural death and another concept takes over? How about those that once became victims of the hackers? if they keep on struggling with, the once beaten twice shy, could we assume that their behavior may sometimes conceive a culture of fear? I do not know.
